  2. RRD Newsletter - Addiction MK6

Week 7 Year 2019 / Y24 • ADDICTION MK6: NEVER ENOUGH • Although on it’s sixth edition, the all new Addiction MK6 is THE kite for extreme big air, all-round freestyle, and high performance freeriding! This particulary wide open C shape with oversized tips, was created with one goal, to send you soaring with confidence, without loosing the capability of throwing seriously radical megaloops! The new Addiction is fast, smooth, and predictable through the wind window. Prepare to get hooked to the Addictions consistent power, upwind ability, and go rocketing towards the clouds due to it's position far on the edge of the window. The size 12, 13,5 and 15 are caracterized by a very flat profile, and an even more "open arch shape" which together with it’s three strut design, gives the Addiction Light wind a huge wind range, allowing the kite to be ridden underpowered for those marginal days and providing ridiculous hangtime when lit, for those who can’t get enough flight hours. *** VOICE TO THE EXPERTS Kite designer Werther Castelletti about the ADDICTION MK6 On the three sizes of the LIGHT WIND version, we decided to focus more on hangtime and less on kitelooping capabilty, while maintaining the same breathtaking lift of the smaller sizes. We have optimised the angle of attack resulting in a cleaner profile and canopy. The slightely swept back tips and the increased open LE arch shape will result in a more flowty feel when in the air till the very end of the jump, making landings on chop not a problem anymore! *** BUILT FOR THE EXTREME At RRD, we pride ourselves in providing the highest quality product without cutting corners. The graphics on this kite are individually cut pieces of Technoforce D2 fabric sewn together to provide unmatched ripstop resistance while providing rigidity and longevity even in the most extreme, big air, conditions. FEATURES: Internal and external extra reinforcements on every leading edge panel Exclusive D2 Techno Force™ Double Ripstop reinforcement panels sewn at 45° on stressed areas Kevlar struts tail Reinforced bridle attachments with external PU disks and and internal double adhesive Dacron patch EVA Scuff Protectors *** RECOMMENDED BOARDS *** Rider: Julien Leleu / Photo: Svetlana Romantsova
  3. Week 6 Year 2019 / Y24 *** RRD'S INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES *** • B L A C K – R I B B O N • *** L I G H T W E I G H T T A K E N T O T H E N E X T L E V E L Taking lightweight kitesurfboards towards a ridiculously light & strong level! The Black Ribbon technology is the first line of kitesurfboards in the world made with Aerospace technology! The internal EPS core, with only 15 kg density, is extra compact by the use of a special mold. This unique mold creates a perfectly sealed surface where the epoxy resin penetrates the layup at just the right amount, creating the perfect bond between each layer, but not too excessively. The entire structure is then fully covered with a complete layer of 160 grams Biaxial fibers combining a 45° mix between Carbon and Innegra fibers. The new Black Ribbon construction provides a lightweight and strong kiteboard while maintaining a significant amount of flex compared to a full carbon laye. *** L • T • E *** B U I L T T O U G H L A S T S L O N G The new LTE technology comes straight from the ultimate molded surfboards technology which consists of a high definition EPS core, made with a high definition “Super EPS“ mold, which is then injected with 36 Kgs/m3 density bits. This phenomenal core is so strong that you could ride it on the water without any lamination on it!! The core has heel recesses incorporated into the deck of the boards, thus creating the perfect placement for EVA heel shock absorbers to prevent heel dents. The Full Glass layup makes the board super flexible to ride and really strong to impact resistance, creating unmatched durability. *** • AVAILABLE NOW • *** VARIAL V1 Black Ribbon PRO STRAPLESS FREESTYLE Our dedicated, pure freestyle strapless kitesurf shape. The brand new RRD Varial was born out of a necessity for a board that is suited for those dedicated to the strapless freestyle discipline. The channels running down the deck allow for that hands on approach to adding stylish grabs. Turn it over to realize that the bottom shape of this board is in a league of its own. The steep, deep, bottom channels running from tip to tail increase air and water flow underneath the Varial which not only improves the tracking capacity for an impressive amount of speed and control, but also increases it’s upwind ability, which is crucial during competitions! The Varials’ construction provides an essential balance of strength and weight, because this board is for the dedicated strapless rider, we dedicated it as a strapless board. No inserts will be found on the deck of the Varial. *** ACE V1 Black Ribbon + LTE LIGHT WIND/STRAPLESS FREESTYLE SURF "Never worry about getting dealt a bad hand by mother nature when you are holding an Ace! The RRD Ace 5’2” is a freeride, flatwater board, that is fast and planes early, designed to make the most out of the least favorable conditions. The wide outline and moderate volume allow this board to float you through the lulls or pump through a section to squeeze out an extra turn on that knee high monster. If the waves are small, the wind is light, or an easy to use, all-around ripper is needed in the quiver, then this is your ace in the hole!". *** C • O • T • A • N / V3 LTE STRAPLESS SURF/FREESTYLE The C.O.T.A.N. is a high performance board that carries less length and momentum in comparison with a traditional board shape. This shape allows you to feel exceptionally free and fast in everything you do. The reason this shape is magic is simple, it rips! The V3 has a newly redesigned tail shape with wingers and rounded fishtail ends, allowing improved turning at high speeds, when riding waves, or when pushing to get the maximum pop out of your freestyle strapless sessions. The new Cotan is also slightly thinner, only in the tail area, to really boost the pop effect when jumping on flat water. *** BARRACUDA V3 LTE INNOVATIVE SURF STYLE Designed, tested, and developed by Ralf Bachschuster, The Barracuda V3 was created to be used for strapped-in riding. The third version of this power house has an entirely redesigned outline. Our goal was to take this radical shape and make it more well rounded for all to enjoy it’s high-end performance. The new Barracuda V3 is easier to ride and more comfortable both in light winds and strong winds and now fits within a true “one board that does it all” program. In addition, the new pintail winger tail was introduced with the idea to slightly increase tail width for better upwind performance when the back foot is moved forward, in front of the strap, and then drastically reducing the tail width right after the winger for an incredibly quick response and insane turns! *** K4 X RRD FINS INCLUDED IN EVERY BOARD K4 Fins specialise in innovative & revolutionary performance windsurf and kitesurf fins. K4's super stiff technology combined with a precision CNC'd foil and hours of testing has resulted in a top performing kitesurf board fin. K4 fins X RRD are made exclusively in the UK.

  6. RRD News, Religion Mk9 Blkrbn

BLACK IS THE NEW BLACK The Religion MK9 BLKRBN is a limited edition version of the Religion MK9 and the first LTD version of a kiteboarding kite in our history. This is a special kite range that will introduce all the RRD lovers to the Year 25 collection. In fact, this is the first product that opens the YEAR 25 collection to celebrate the RRD QCC ( Quarter Century Collection)! This unique version of the MK9 retains all of the same technology and performance as its bold counterpart but with a design suited for riders who want to keep a low profile with their equipment while making a big impact with their riding. The BLKRBN is a rare opportunity to make a statement in the most subtle manner while owning a piece of history. This sophisticated look will be released in a very limited quantity to those select few that act fast and take advantage of the Religion MK9 BLKRBN; RRD’s concealed weapon of choice. Be one of the very few riders to own a unique piece from RRD with an extremely limited production of only 200 units, numbered individually, produced for the entire world. Available from 30 January 2019 in the shops. VOICE TO THE EXPERTS Kite designer Werther Castelletti about the Religion MK9 BLKRBN; "The MK9 has undergone only minor changes compared to our most successful wave kite, the Religion MK8. The large sizes, 9m up to 12m, remain virtually the same while the smaller sizes, 8m down to 4m, have a revised leading edge and again the addition of a pulley. These changes on the smaller sizes allow the kite to self regulate in stronger conditions, which makes you hold on comfortable in stronger winds. Next to that it increases the wind range, and provides more hang time for those who still like to send it!" WHY IS THE STRONGEST KITE OUT THERE? Structural frame technology with a mix of 195 grms. Polyant Dacron and light weight D2 Techno Force™ Double Ripstop Internal and external extra reinforcements on every leading edge panel Exclusive D2 Techno Force™ Double Ripstop reinforcement panels sewn at 45° on week areas Kevlar struts tail Reinforced bridle attachments with external PU disks and an internal double adhesive Dacron patch EVA Scuff Protectors NEW FRONT LINE TRIM Also for the Religion MK9, BLKRBN we have added the new Front Line Trim, with a WAVE SETTING and a FREESTYLE WAVE SETTING. The freestyle wave setting pulls less on the harness, has a more direct bar feeling, de-powers the kite more when needed, and forces the kite to fly more towards the edge of the window which creates more lift! The wave setting is more suited towards purely riding in the surf with less bar pressure and a kite that sits deeper in the wind window, maximizing the drift for when riding down the line. Week 50 Year 2018 / Y24 NEW SQUID: YOUR NEW IDEA OF FREEDOM PROGRAM: HYDROFOIL / DIRECTIONAL / SKIMBOARD Propel through the water with this new multifunctional directional kiteboarding hydrofoil / skim board. The RRD Squid was designed with freeriding in mind. It is extremely maneuverable and provides the rider with constant feedback and control due to the light and stiff construction. The quad concave not only gives the board grip as a skim board, but it also provides more rigidity, thus improving the overall stiffness. These four channels, coupled with a moderate nose rocker, allow the board to drive forward and upward on touchdowns with the foil. Take foiling to the next level, travel with ease, and be prepared because light wind will be no concern with the new RRD Squid multi-purpose hydrofoil skimboard. SPECIAL FEATURES Multi-purpose hydrofoil / skim-wave board Lightweight, Durable Construction Quad Channels Unidirectional Carbon Reinforcement ABS Sidewalls Full EVA brushed top striped groove deck pad. G10 6.5 Toxic Wave Fins included NEW SH-FLIGHT: HOW FUTURE LOOKS LIKE PROGRAM: SUP / SURF / KITE FOIL The SH-flight foil is the new tool to enter the windless and light wind foil dimension. Using the SH-flight foil you will learn a new way to ride the ocean using a type of motion that was unexplored until today. The combination of a short mast of only 60 cms of height and a moderate long fuselage of 76 cm, create the base of the right balance of this modern hydrofoil designed to work at low speed. The new SH-flight foil is delivered with a hull flat plate to be used on US boxes slots that allow precise micrometric trim options for your sessions. Welcome to the future of riding the ocean! Why do i need the new SH-Flight? The high aspect of the oversized new front wing will provide high lifting performance, setting the bounderis for a whole new experience in foil progression. Tacking has never been so easy, the SH Flight, is designed for those riders looking for an extrimely easy set-up, ideal to soustain you through the whole learingn process. Not only Perfectly suitable with the Dolphin One, and the new Squid, the SH-Flight is also the ultimate surf SUP foil weapon. Voice to the experts FOIL DESIGNER WERTHER CASTELLETTI SAYS: The rear wing is 52 cm wide and has a negative dihedral angle of 154°. This particular wing design improves the “pumping” ability of the foil, and also helps the foil to remain under water, even while performing high speed turns, when the foil has to work at higher side angles. This will avoid any undesired sudden front lifts that can result in bad crashes. Easy, multy functional, fun or simply the SH-Flight. DOWNLOAD THE SH-FLIGH MANUAL HERE
  8. RRD Newsletter, Religion MK9

The first thing that comes to mind when Religion MK9 is mentioned is SURF. As the first kite manufacturer to make a kitesurf specific kite, RRD knows a thing or two about wave kites. There are not many kites out there that can drift like the new Religion MK9, allowing you to ride the wave instead of being pulled by your kite. The new Religion MK9 is the epitome of the perfect kitesurfing kite. With a new deep and long leading edge in the small sizes, the Religion MK9 now has more range and control in strong, gusty winds, more depower, and has also increased the kites upwind ability. The new shape not only improves the speed and reaction time but also allows you to kill the harness pressure when bottom turning and lining up for a big vertical turn on the wave or for more control during your strapless freestyle maneuvers. Since its first introduction, this kite has transformed together with the evolution of riding waves with a kite. Voice to the experts Kite designer Werther Castelletti about the Religion MK9; "The MK9 has undergone only minor changes compared to our most successful wave kite, the Religion MK8. Next to that it increases the wind range, and provides more hang time for those who still like to send it!" Ralph Boelen, Ranked 5th in the GKA Kitesurf World Championship, about the new Religion MK9; "The Religion MK9 totally increased its power/depower skills, which brings a perfect comfort to just set the right speed and precision on the wave and be ready to hit it exactly where you want, this also make it a great kite for gusty sessions. Unlike most fast turning surf kites on the market, the Religion MK9 still maintains that signature pull and power which helps to get in a few extra turns down the line." An additional, notable feature added to the new Religion MK9, per the request of our top performers in the strapless freestyle kitesurfing discipline, is the front line trim settings that can be found on the bridle. We have added a WAVE SETTING and a FREESTYLE WAVE SETTING. ‘I like a steep, fast wave’ Ralf Bachschuster about kitesurfing RRD is proud to present you this story about Ralf Bachschuster and his inspring lifestyle as a kitesurfer and shaper living in Cape Town, S.A. Ralf about kitesurfing 'Kiting is all about freedom and movement and the feel of water. Speed, power and friendship. Loving nature as it is and leaving it as it is.' Click here to go to the web page
  9. RRD Newsletter, Obsession MK11

Week 40 Year 2018 / Y24 Much has changed compared to the bold impact made by the Obsession MK10. We have continued forward and for our 11th version of this iconic kite, every part of the kite has been improved, even down to the smallest details such as the bridles, shape, leading edge, and trailing edge. The bar pressure for the MK11 is more direct, the kite turns faster and provides more power throughout the turn. Because of this, it’s also the ideal kite for kite loops. In addition to the increased speed and constant power, we have also increased the wind range on the Obsession MK11. And although the kite has such a closed shape, it does relaunch extremely well. The Obsession MK11, thanks to a right combination of C shape and bridle system, has achieved perfect performance for freestyle while also eliminating the need for a fifth line. IN SHORT + Pure c-kite performances + 4 lines set-up + Five struts structure + Easy relaunch + Explosive unhooked pop + Powerfull loop Voice to the experts Kite designer Werther Castelletti about the Obsession MK11; "To create a 4 lines kite that would provide the same performances of a pure 5 lines c-kite, was a real challenge. But all the changes we have done on the shape of the kite, allowed us to create a performance freestyle kite superior to any 5 line C-kite on the market, with the simplicity of only 4 lines. We think this is a great result and it was achieved by our new revolutionary bridle and shape that allow this four line kite feel like a pure freestyle 5th line kite." Adeuri Corniel, currently ranked second among the WKC riders, about the new Obsession MK11; "I love the new Obsession MK11, the kite provides an amazing ammount of pop. Passing the bar is easy, the kite sustains you through the whole trick while giving the "slack" needed exactly when I want it. Finally I can ride a 4 lines kite that re-launches from the water really easily, with a pure C-kite performance, but without the disadvantage of a 5th line." *** The Black Panther: After the second place conquered in Turkey, Adeuri Corniel is back at his homespot, pushing his limits with the Obsession MK11 Adeuri Corniel pushing his limits for the upcoming events. Here the footage from one of his first sessions at home, riding the Obsession MK11 and Juice V5. *** Click here to go to the web page.

The light bar pressure allows you to spend longer on the water and we loved the quality of the overall set up on offer. This kites a thinker, ride it once, and it will leave you thinking about leaving your existing quiver for another session on the Passion…' The Kitemag; "this is a quick and fun to fly kite with enough performance to be your go-to kite in the surf or for serious boosting sessions". 18. RRD Kiteboarding, Week 47 - Year 2017

RRD Kiteboarding, Week 47 - Year 2017 Week 47 - Year 2017 The Salerosa V4 is available now! The coveted Salerosa is back with a splash of some bold new colors. The Salerosa was developed over the years for onshore conditions but from the V2 onwards, we moved it one step forward as a pure, all-round ripper from knee high to triple overhead waves. This board has a quad fin set up and was developed by Abel Lago. The quad fins make the V4 go fast down the line, gives it a tight grip on the wave, and makes it incredibly manoeuvrable. Combine this with a similar rocker of the Maquina, but using slightly more tail kick, and finished off with a squared-swallow tail; the result is a magnificent board that can dig deep, pivot on a dime, and break the fins loose off the lip for some legit kitesurfing! 19. Final Day at the El Gouna RRD Center Kiteboarding World Cup El Gouna, Egypt 7-12 November 2017 The final day at the El Gouna RRD Centre Kiteboarding World Cup was nothing short of spectacular. With 7 heats back to back throughout the day, we saw perfect 10's, boundaries being pushed, tears, unfortunate injuries, and history being made for freestyle kiteboarding, as our champions for this 4th Elite League event were crowned in front of the fans on the beach of El Gouna. Women's Semi-Finals The day commenced with the completion of the Semi-finals for the Women. Heat 7 saw the ladies struggling slightly being the first on the water, dealing with gustier wind and choppy waters. Local wildcard Nathalie Lambrecht tried her best, but could not land the tricks she really wanted to perform. Therese Taabbel, Danish Champion, fought her hardest to advance to the final, but unfortunately it was not to be. Francesca Bagnoli from Italy managed to perform an amazing Slim Chance on her last trick attempt, and this secured her 2nd place, and opened the door to the finals. She was delighted at this results, making this her second Elite League final this season. Annabel van Westerop remained calm and composed throughout the heat, and finished 1st, delighted to once again be in the Elite League finals. 1). Elite League - El Gouna RRD Center Kiteboarding World Cup Heat 2 saw our current World Champion Bruna Kajiya really prove her worth, as she rode solidly and with great confidence. Paula Novotna, the Czech charger, performed brilliantly and gave the World Champion a good run for her money. Both athletes went for huge Heart Attacks, scoring 9.4 for Novotna and 9.63 for Kajiya. As Novotna was determined to finish the heat in the highest position possible, she went for an impressive KGB as her final trick, and she advanced to the final, just behind Kajiya. Maureen Castelle performed well in the tricky conditions, along with Pauline Valesa, but neither of them could catch up to their fellow competitors. 2). Elite League - El Gouna RRD Center Kiteboarding World Cup Men's Semi-Finals Heat 13 was unique, as it contained 2 former and one current World Champion, making it possibly the toughest heat of the event! Carlos Mario, Liam Whaley, Alex Pastor and Set Teixeira put on an unbelievable performance, as the athletes each fought to secure themselves a spot in the final. Carlos Mario opened the heat with a Heart Attack 7 as his first trick attempt, setting the standard high right from the start. He maintained his dominance throughout despite crashing his 2nd attempt in a rare mistake from the kiteboarding superstar. Mario continued landing tricks that scored within the 9's, casually and with ease. Meanwhile, there was a big battle for second place, where Alex Pastor tried his hardest, however it just was not enough, placing him in 4th position. Set Teixeira from Brazil also tried to remain focused to get to the final, but he would have to settle with 3rd position and a place in the Small Final. Liam Whaley was determined, and performed a nice Backside 317 and KGB5, managing to beat his opponents and would advance to the final alongside Carlos Mario here in El Gouna. Heat 14 was a Dominican affair, with three of the competitors originating from the Dominican Republic. Adeuri Corniel rode outstandingly well, with Luis Alberto Cruz hot on his heels throughout. Both riders advanced to the finals, leaving Posito Martinez and Alex Neto behind to compete in the Small Final. Men's Small Final Alex Pastor, former World Champion from Spain, went all in for the Small Final, wanting to make the best of a bad situation. He had a strong start landing 3 solid tricks back to back, which allowed him to maintain a good lead from the start. Set Teixeira was determined to follow close behind, and finish in 2nd, followed by Alex Neto and Posito Martinez. All 4 riders remained close in points for the duration of the heat, and final standings really came down to the final trick attempts. Women's Final The bar has certainly been raised for Women's kiteboarding as our 4 finalists proved during this event. The riding level was astonishing, as Bruna Kajiya, Current World Champion, stormed into her heat with a Backside 313 followed by an incredible Heart Attack. Paula Novotna from the Czech republic was eager to repeat her strong performance from her previous heat, and performed a Heart Attack of her own, also scoring points up in the 9's. Italian Francesca Bagnoli who is new to the Elite League, having qualified at the first event of the year in Leaucate, has certainly proven her talent and dedication, as she overtook Annabel Van Westerop from the Netherlands with an incredible KGB for her last trick attempt. She finished in 2nd place just 1.05 points behind the World Champion. Paula Novotna unfortunately seemed unable to maintain her focus during the heat, and missed out on a podium finish. Annabel Van Westerop gave it her all, and with her solid 4 tricks that she started her heat with, she secured 3rd place, making it her 3rd podium finish of the season. The level of kiteboarding amongst the female athletes was nothing short of exceptional during this women's final, which was won by non other than Bruna Kajiya! Final results for the Women: 1 - Bruna Kajiya 2 - Francesca Bagnoli 3 - Annabel Van Westerop 4 - Paula Novotna 3). Elite League - El Gouna RRD Center Kiteboarding World Cup Men's Final Carlos Mario made history during the Men's final, with the most outstanding heat ever seen in WKL history. The Brazilian current World Champion landed 5 tricks scoring above 9, and two perfect 10's. The spectators, fans and fellow athletes could only watch on in astonishment. His performance has catapulted competitive kiteboarding into a whole new level, and his fellow competitors face a stern challenge to try and keep up with him. Luis Alberto Cruz rode phenomenally well, and was sitting in 2nd place, when he had an unfortunate crash on his 5th trick attempt. He had to withdraw from the heat, and was taken to hospital to be treated for a suspected broken rib. He is now recovering well. Despite not being present for the remainder of the heat, his solid scores meant that he still managed to finish with a 3rd place podium finish, a bit of compensation for having giving it his all and having to suffer the painful consequences. Adeuri Corniel from the Dominican Republic crashed his first trick attempt, but then gained his momentum and consistently landed every other trick attempt with favourable scores, and was rewarded with 2nd place, the best result yet for this young and talented athlete. Liam Whaley entered this final with the focus on winning the event, as he had done previously in Leucate. He knew that it was all or nothing, he had to go big and take some risks in order to stand a chance at winning the heat, but unfortunately 4 crashes cost him dearly, and he was unable to climb his way back up. He finishes the event in 4th position. Carlos Mario wins the Elite League event here in El Gouna! 4). 20. Elite League Day 2 at the El Gouna RRD Center Kiteboarding World Cup El Gouna, Egypt 7-12 November 2017 Another day of wind and sunshine in El Gouna, Egypt. Day 2 of the Elite League allowed for the completion of Round 2 for the Women and Round 3 for the Men. The wind commenced with strong conditions in the early morning of 20 to 25 knots, and dropped in the early afternoon. Women's Round 2 The first heat of the day was Heat 5 for the ladies. This saw two french riders, Maureen Castelle and Pauline Valesa, keep a safe lead ahead of their competitors throughout the duration of the heat. Dutch riders Isabeau Galiart and Lidwij Hartog struggled to maintain their composure during this second round of competition, which meant that it was Valesa and Castelle who advanced to the semi-finals, yet another very strong performance from the French team. 1). Elite League - El Gouna RRD Center Kiteboarding World Cup Rita Arnaus started Heat 6 with a look of solid determination, eager to replicate her incredible performance in Akyaka, and things seemed to heading the right way when she landed an outstanding Hinterberger Mobe scoring her 9.1 points. However, she encountered some difficulties with the remainder of her trick attempts, and unfortunately did not advance any further in the competition much to her disappointment. Vera Klabbers from the Netherlands had a difficult start but managed to regain some good traction, but unfortunately not enough for her to advance to the next round. Local wildcard Nathalie Lambrecht put on a great show, riding well and landing 5 of her 7 trick attempts, and this consistency allowed her to qualify for the semi-finals, much to the delight of her friends and family who were on the beach to support her. Danish Champion Therese Taabbel had a fantastic heat, feeling good from start to finish, and allowing her to advance after finishing in 1st position. 2). Elite League - El Gouna RRD Center Kiteboarding World Cup Men's Round 3 Heat 9 was a tense battle between the new up-and-coming riders, Christian Tio and Maxim Chabloz, up against our Former World Champion Alex Pastor and Current No3 Set Teixeira. Maxime opened the heat with full confidence landing a nice Back Mobe 5. He continued riding consistently well throughout, but not pulling out high enough scores to let him advance. Christian Tio sat at the top of the scoreboard for much of the heat, but was knocked down to 3rd place at the very last moment by Set Teixeira who landed a massive Heart Attack 5 as his last trick and jumped from 4th to 1st much to his satisfaction. Alex Pastor, who managed to ride an impressive heat despite still being in pain from his hard crash yesterday, advanced to the semi-finals in 2nd place. It was a very intense heat with the new generation fighting hard, but finally it was experience and consistency that paid off for Teixeira and Pastor. 3). Elite League - El Gouna RRD Center Kiteboarding World Cup Heat 10 saw Simone Lamusse from Mauritius struggle to find his composure. Despite starting off well, he crashed 4 of his trick attempts and that meant that he did not advance. Liam Whaley sat comfortably in 2nd position for much of the heat, until he crashed his last 3 trick attempts, which opened a door of opportunity for Stefan Spiessberger. Stefan had a lot pressure, needing at least 8.23 points for his last trick if he wanted to advance, and unfortunately he was unable to pull it off. Whaley advances to the semi-finals, together with Carlos Mario who crashed only once, and managed an incredible KGB7 scoring 9.27 points. It was stop and go for Heat 11, as the heat was postponed for one hour after the 4th round of tricks due to the decreasing wind conditions. However, the wind returned, and Arthur Guillebert was on fine form from the start, however he crashed two trick attempts at the end of the heat which pushed him out the top two. Posito Martinez returned to the heat riding full power and performed an aggressive BS317 scoring 8.63 points. It was up to Alex Neto from Brazil to respond, and he did so with an amazing Slim 7, scoring 8.83 points and boosting him up to 1st position. Hadlow rose to the occasion with a Slim 7 of his own, also giving him a nice score of 8.1 points, but it was Posito Martinez who managed to perform a 317 on his last trick attempt, catapulting him up into 2nd place, and leaving no room for Hadlow or Guillebert to advance. Neto and Martinez secured their spots in tomorrow's semi-finals. 4). Elite League - El Gouna RRD Center Kiteboarding World Cup Val Garat from France rode an outstanding heat for Heat 12. He had a solid lead during the start, and rode with power and confidence landing every single one of his 7 trick attempts, including an outstanding KGB7 scoring him 9.13 points as his very last trick. Sadly though, he got knocked down to 3rd place by Dominican powerhouse Adeuri Corniel, who came through with great determination, landing an incredible Slim7 on his last trick scoring 8.67 and landing him in the top position right at the end of the heat, much to the disappointment of Garat, who had fought hard for the spot. Luis Alberto Cruz was on fire throughout the heat, performing several high-scoring tricks including a Backside 317, and he was ecstatic to be passing through to the Semi-finals together with his fellow Dominican, Corniel. Nicolas Delmas rode well for such a tough heat, but several crashes meant that he missed out on his chance to advance. 5).
