  2. Day 5 at the Aircalin Kitesurf Pro saw the completion of Men's Round 3, Heat 7 and 8, as well as the mini final. This means that both Men's and Women's finals will both be run tomorrow. 1). World Kiteboarding League - New Caledonia, Day 5 The day started off with slightly lighter wind conditions. The race director wanted to ensure that these Men's heats were run in optimal conditions so the start was slightly delayed until we had the best wind possible. 2). World Kiteboarding League - New Caledonia, Day 5 Heat 7 saw Alex Pastor from Spain and Youri Zoon from the Netherlands dominate the heat with many doubles. The both went back and forth from 1st position to 2nd position by landing KGB5's, 317's, Backside 7's and Heart Attack 5's but Youri managed to edge his way to the top and take the win. David Tonijuan also showed some perfectly executed tricks, landing a nice Heart Attack, Hinterberger 5 and Crow Mobe 5. This positive result gave him a spot in tomorrow's final alongside Pastor and Zoon. 3). World Kiteboarding League - New Caledonia, Day 5 Heat 8 saw local rider Arthur Guillebert show some great riding, with a wonderful home crowd to support him on the beach. Carlos Mario from Brazil put on an outstanding display, showing us all exactly why he is currently in that number 1 position. He landed 6 double handle passes for his heat including a Backside 319, which didn't have the cleanest landing, so lost points, but was extremely impressive non the less. He landed three tricks that scored over a 9 in this heat, the highest score we have seen during the event so far. New Zealand rider Marc Jacobs will also be joining him in the finals alongside Set Teixeira who initially struggled during his heat and crashed his first three attempts, but then managed to regain territory landing a Slim7 and 317. 4). World Kiteboarding League - New Caledonia, Day 5 The Men's Mini Final saw Stefan Spiessberger, Jerome Cloetens, Val Garat and Antoine Fermon battle against each other, but it was Stefan Spiessberger who landed a big 317 as well as a nice grabbed Slim5 and Backmobe 5. This gave him 7th place overall for this competition, followed by Antoine Fermon who was very happy with his 8th position at this event. Jerome Cloetens put on a solid display of riding throughout the day giving him 9th position, and Val Garat 10th. Tomorrow will be a big day with the completion of both the Men's and Women's finals. Live Stream will be running as from 12 midday, so tune in to see our interviews with all of the finalists and some fantastic live coverage of the heats. This will also be the day for the crowning of this year's World Kiteboarding League 2016 Champions, so be sure not to miss it. 5). 3. Day three commenced with some promising wind, sunny skies and ideal tide conditions. The event commenced at 11am, with Men’s Round 1 Heat 2. The full round was completed for the Men, as well as Round 2 for the Women. 1). World Kiteboarding League - New Caledonia For the start of Heat 2 the wind conditions were still fairly light, with the competitors using 13m and 14m kites. The athletes struggled to go big but 2x World Champion Youri Zoon dominated the heat with a powerful KGB5, 317 and Backside 315. He was followed closely by French rider Val Garat who also nailed a nice KGB5 but couldn’t back it up with his Slim7 that he crashed. Fortunately, he nailed a nice Front Blind Mobe and Crow Mobe 5 meaning that it was him who would be joining Youri Zoon and passing directly to the third round. 2). World Kiteboarding League - New Caledonia Local rider Guillebert rode extremely well. He was powerful and stylish finishing 3rd in his heat, and joining him in Round 2 is Sebastian Garat. For Men’s Heat 3 the athletes were still using large kites and struggling to find enough height to score doubles. Marc Jacobs from New Zealand scored the top position, opening with a massive Hinterberger 5, backed up with a good KGB5. Brazilian rider Set Teixeira also landed a nice Slim7 and Backside 315, gaining second place and joining Jacobs in Round 3. Paul Serin and David Tonijuan rode solid heats and will both pass through to Round Two. 3). World Kiteboarding League - New Caledonia Men’s Heat 4 saw Brazilian man of the moment Carlos Mario land a massive Slim 7 that gave him an easy win. He also nailed a Heart Attack 5 to jump through to Round 3. Jerome Cloetens came in second just 0.02 points in front of newcomer Simone Lamusse. Cloetens landed a clean Front Blind Mobe and KGB while Lamusse scored a Hinterberger 5 and perfect Double Heart Attack. Sergey Sotov from Russia will also be joining Lamusse in Round 2. 4). World Kiteboarding League - New Caledonia On the Women’s side, it was Pauline Valesa who was victorious in her battle with fellow local rider Marine Duprat. They both landed S-bend to Blind, Back to Blind and 313‘s but Valesa rode with slightly more power and scored the win. We saw a great heat between Rita Arnaus from Spain and local rider Maureen Castelle. Rita was on fire and landed her 7 trick attempts including a great Slimchance and S-bend to Blind. Castelle rode with a lot of style and landed a nice Back to Blind but she unfortunately suffered too many crashes and lost her lead, leaving Rita to pass through to the next round. 5). World Kiteboarding League - New Caledonia Competition was called of as the tide became too low. Skipper’s meeting has been called for 10 am tomorrow with the first possible start at 10.30 am.
